Wojod Center: Connecting the Business Model, Internal Management, and Service Costs

How can a specialist center supporting children connect its mission to a clear business model, organize its team, and understand the relationship between service costs and revenue? Power Plus supported Wojod Center through an integrated consulting engagement covering business model planning, internal staff policies, and cost and revenue analysis.

Case Snapshot

Client: Wojod Center
Sector: Educational and behavioral support services for children
Services provided: Business model clarification, internal organization and HR policies, and cost and revenue analysis
Focus: Establishing a clearer management framework connecting the center’s mission, services, resources, and daily operations.

Context and Challenge

Wojod Center supports children experiencing learning, behavioral, and emotional difficulties through specialist sessions and plans tailored to their needs. Delivering these services involves working with children, communicating with families, and coordinating teachers, specialists, and administrative staff.

The management challenge was to clarify how these elements fit together: What services does the center provide, and for whom? How are they organized into a plan? How are staff responsibilities, working hours, and pay determined? How do service delivery costs relate to revenue?

Addressing these questions required a connected view of the business model, operating procedures, and staff policies.

Power Plus’s Role

Power Plus worked with the center’s management across three connected areas.

1. Clarifying the Business Model and Service Delivery

The engagement helped clarify the groups served, the value the center aimed to provide, and the roles of families and other relevant stakeholders. It also addressed how the center’s mission, vision, and values related to its daily work.

A central element was clarifying that sessions formed part of an integrated service plan. The process began with an assessment, followed by an educational and skills development plan identifying the specialists, hours, and sessions required. The plan and fees were then agreed with the family.

This provided a basis for connecting each child’s needs with the proposed services and the resources required to deliver them.

2. Developing Internal Staff Policies

Power Plus helped develop internal staff policies and clarify the organization of the center’s teams, including teachers and specialists, planning and quality functions, administrative support, and consultants.

The work covered attendance, schedules, leave, absence and lateness, and the calculation of pay based on working hours. Its purpose was to provide a clear reference for management and staff, supporting coordination and clearer expectations and responsibilities.

3. Analyzing Costs in Relation to Revenue

The engagement also included analyzing costs and their relationship to the center’s revenue, helping management consider financial requirements alongside service planning and staff organization.

This connected the services offered with the resources needed to deliver them and the revenue they generated, providing a clearer basis for decisions about service operations and continuity.

Outputs and Value

Power Plus’s contribution combined a clearer business model, an internal framework for organizing staff, and support in understanding the relationship between costs and revenue.

These outputs connected three levels of decision-making: defining the service and its value to beneficiaries, organizing the team delivering it, and understanding the financial resources needed to sustain it. Together, they provided a basis for considering the center’s mission, services, and management as an interconnected whole.

The case illustrates how management consulting can help specialist service organizations translate their mission into practical arrangements for planning and resource management.
